Neck soreness after Botox for migraine. Other than ice, is it OK to use heat?

This should go away very quickly and ice/tylenol are the best options.  Ask your physician to use a smaller needle next time, I use a 32 gauge so patients get very little pain.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question.Immediately after injury/needle sticks, etc., it is best to use ibuprofen for 48 hours.After that period, heat is best to bring more blood to the area which reduces inflammation and heals the bruises (internal and external) faster. Heat causes vasodilation leading to more blodd flow, more mononuclear and PMN to carry away injured blood products etc etc. If heat worsens the migraine, stop and convert back t ice.
