Hi there, thanks for asking this questions. Horizontal neck lines are tricky to treat but it can be done. Carefully using a thin viscosity filler like Belotero, Silk, Vobella, or RHA2 can work but there is a high risk of having visible lumps form making it look worse. You should look for someone who has a lot of experience doing this using the hyperdilute technique. The other option is to just leave them alone. These are natural lines that are very common even in young people.

The presence of horizontal neck lines is primarily due to the effect of repetitive neck flexion on the overlying skin. It is generally not related to muscle contraction in the way that forehead lines and frown lines are produced. The best option for treatment is to improve the thickness of the dermis so that it will essentially resist the forces of flexion creasing. This can be done with a filler that improves dermal density without creating a volumized look which would produce a ridge. Belotero Balance® has worked well for this issue and the new Teoxane Redensity is another good solution. Fat transplantation using a combination of SNIF (sharp needle intradermal fat grafts) and Nanofat for its regenerative properties has also been highly successful for these type of neck lines.

I began treating these horizontal "necklace" lines several decades ago with the use of microdroplets of Botox, which worked well in many cases. These rings can be difficult to treat. Filler is one option to lessen their prominence. SkinPen microneedling or Morpheus8 with radiofrequency is another option. A good skin care routine including tretinoin, medical grade skin care products like Transform MD and wearing sunscreen every day is also recommended.

Neck lines have a lot of options to help you reduce them, as the skin folds in the same places over and over, they will require maintenance to keep their visibility down. Your focus needs to be on strengthening the skin in this area. Using Vitamin A (retinol/retinoids) can help, and its something you can use at home and several nights a week.
Further treatments such as micro needling, Morpheus 8 can really help. We do use dermal filler in a "strings of pearls" technique. This puts small bits of volume under the lines to lift them out. Lastly to treat the dermis (second layer of skin, the architecture of the skin) of the skin of the neck. This improves the support structures of the skin and adds an immense about of hydration to the area also!
