12 days post-op and open BBL wound (photos)

Question

I’m 12 days post op, on Monday (today is fri) my right bbl wound opened and bloody fluid and fat came out. It’s been 5 days and I’m still leaking fluid (very little fat). The doctor keeps telling me to just put ointment and bandage and it will close. I been staying in bed not moving but its still the same and has not closed. Any professional opinions ? I’m desperate for help.

I am sorry you are going through this.  Rarely do BBL fat injection ports open up.  However, this certainly can happen and, in your case, it did.Some of the fat injected into your buttocks has poured out through your injection sites.  This obviously has created a conundrum for your plastic surgeon.  If he sews up the wound to prevent any infection and any more loss of fat, he can potentially lock in bacteria and lead to a rip roaring infection.  On the other hand, if he leaves the wound open, this could also potentially lead to an infection.  Each plastic surgeon has his or her own paradigm for how to deal with these potential post operative complications.  Your personal plastic surgeon has the greatest amount of information, both about your health, your support group, and the level of wound healing that has occurred over the past 12 days.  I highly recommend you stay in close contact with your plastic surgeon and be sure to visit his or her office to ensure the best treatment.

As long as fluids continue draining the incision will remain open however it will close. 
Eventually when fluid draining stops the incisions will close up. Based on the info you provided the fluid drainage doesn’t include fat so this is a good sign. 
You should continue to follow your surgeons instructions and ensure you keep the areas very clean and disinfected.
