Is there a way to breastfeed after an inverted nipple correction? (photo)

Inverted nipple repair can be performed while preserving many of the ducts.  We are publishing our data on our experience with over 190 nipple repairs, many of which were able to breast feed after.  We do not have the data to know just how many though as our study was a chart review and not tracking down the patients to answer this specific question.  We plan on doing a follow up study to answer it soon.  Despite our preservation of the majority of the ducts, there is still a chance that you will not be able to breast feed after.  So if you are seriously considering having another child, you should wait to have it done until after.  Especially if you know you were already able to breast feed before.   Hope this helps and best of luck.

Inverted nipple correction may prevent breast feeding. Sometimes women with inverted nipples have a hard time breast feeding anyways. Also, they sometimes come out with breast feeding. Consider waiting. 

If you really want to try and breast feed it would be best to postpone surgery until aft you have kids. The only problem with this approach is that you may choose not to have surgery and then not be able to breast feed!
