Is 33 units of Botox enough? I'm two weeks post-procedure, and have very faint results (Photo)

this amount is VERY high and typically works fantastically. I suggest speaking to your physician.  After 2 weeks you can always get more.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hi Kiki.  I think you are experiencing what many consumers think does not exist.  The difference between a good and a not so good injector.  With 33 units, you should have been able to get full effects in the area between the eyes (frown lines) and the forehead and as you stated, this was the case in the past with 30 units.  Your new injector either didn't use 33 units or they injected it in a way that did not achieve your goals.  Either way, it's probably time to return to your original injector.  

You are two weeks post-procedure so this is a good time to be re-evaluated by your physician or surgeon for possible touch up. 

Hello.There can be variation in response depending on factors in your body in response or time for the treatment to work so another week may see more response.If it is drastically different we may wonder about operator or product error and give a complimentary top up .Keep in mind our requirements do change over time and this may be your new status. There are a number of reasons that Botox might wear off early, including increased enzymatic activity, that destroys the Botox and possibly antibodies from a previous exposure. Unfortunately, another reason is overdiluted Botox where physicians and clinics strive to treat more patients per vial in the interest of greater profit. For my female patients I usually inject 25 units of Botox to treat the entire forehead area including the lines between the eyes. 

I agree, there has been little change. If this were my office, I'd correct complimentary if I felt the initial dosing was adequate. If the patient wanted less than what I was suggesting, this would then cost the patient. Males require more than females, about 50 percent more usually or even more. I will usually treat glabella when I treat the forehead and if that was treated as well, then the dosing is not adequate.

33 Units of Botox should have been  more than enough to treat the area.It looks like the lower forehead and frown crease is not moving. I would discuss this with your doctor. Possibly the placement of the Botox was not in the area you actually wanted treated. I always hold up the mirror to my patient to be sure we are talking about the same area. Often times the patient points to a different area than they really wanted treated without a mirror to exactly show the injector.We are all different but I will usually touch up within week 2 to 4 without charging the patient because I want you to be happy with your results .You also want to go to an office that does a lot of Botox to be sure they are not saving it. I feel it is the most potent once mixed for 24 to 48 hours.definitely go back to your injecting doctor.

30 units for just forehead lines would be excessive so your frown lines were treated, but not all of your horizontal forehead lines.  Please return to your injector to discuss further treatment for your forehead.

Typical 8-12 units is adequate for treatment of horizontal forehead lines. If you received Dysport (as opposed to Botox) 33 units wouldn't be unreasonable since you require about 2.5 times the number of units of Dysport for the equivalent effect of Botox. 33 units is not a great deal for deep lines in the forehead.  You may have had injection into the frown area as well, but my question is why did you change doctors if you had good results before. Return to one of them and let them inject some more
