how does a septoplasty affect the structure of the nose. Does it make it weaker or stronger? I did a regular rhinoplasty 20 years ago and I feel that it slightly detached the tip of the nose from the bridge. Is it possible to fix this and make it stronger or more attached? Is the cartilage removed only the non structural one? Thanks

Performing a septoplasty can certainly change the structure of the nose.  If the septoplasty is too aggressive, this can create weakness in the nose structure and in the worse case scenario, cause collapse.

Most surgeons are careful to leave enough remaining septum to prevent this from happening.  If you feel that your nose has changed from your previous rhinoplasty/septoplasty, you may consider undergoing a revision surgery with reinforcement grafts to reestablish the lost structure of your nose.
