Getting a septoplasty - will I need to take my nostril piercing out?

My nostril piercing is only two months old at the time of writing this, so not healed enough to safely remove. I'm getting higher on the waitlist for septoplasty, left sphenoidotomy and bilateral inferior turbinate reduction (all in one go). My nostril piercing is further to the front of my nose than most nostril piercings, so quite out of the way. The jewellery is made of implant grade titanium and the stud fixture inside the nose is a minuscule, flat disc. Will they make me take it out?

It may feel like a big hassle to remove your piercings prior to the surgery but you must definitely remove all the metal piercings. The reason is that metal can cause skin burns from any medical equipment and electric cauterize used to stop bleeding. Best wishes.
