Question

How long does it take for an buttock implant to form after a capsulectomy with an immediate replacement . And how long will it take the capsule to form around the new implant. I'm 30 days post op and my implants still look flat with asemetry. Please help

The general rule with most any implant in the body is that it take about six or so months for in to settle into its final position. Most if not all implants are high at first because of the swelling and tightness of the tissue pocket. As the swelling subsides and the tissue relaxes around the implant, things take a better and lower position (typically, barring any capsular contracture issue). Glad to help...

Dear Nichelle, Thanks for submitting your picture. From the picture it looks like the implants were placed high. Are they under the muscle ? If you are unhappy with the size of your butt, the solution is a bigger implant. You might consider an oval round implant that looks very natural. Like the previous comment, I would recommend to wait at least 6 months for the replacement surgery. If you decide to do it with a different surgeon make sure to obtain the operative report, so the surgeon will know the technique that was used. Best of luck, Dr Widder

The answer is this procedure may or may not be satisfactory for you. The implants can form new capsules and this causes asymmetry. Be patient and give it 6 months. If all is not then well consider fat transfer instead of implants. Butt implants, like breast implants, can be problematic. My Best, Dr C
