I had surgery to correct a deviated septum about 3 years ago. As well as the septoplasty, I also underwent a turbinate reduction and had a conchal cartilage graft placed on the left side (left side only). While I have few complaints about the 2 former procedures, the spreader graft has caused me some discomfort. I would like to have it removed but would like to know: 1. How common is it to remove these grafts? 2. How safe is it? 3. What would I expect during the recovery? 4. Would you do it? My procedure was a closed septoplasty as apposed to an open one and that the graft was inserted as such.
