Is Korea the best choice to have cheekbone reduction? I prefer to have it done here the most.

Cheek bone reduction surgery involves reducing the cheekbone or the zygoma. This is a very strong and hardy bone. Therefore, I usually do a complete osteotomy or cutting the bone. I make two cuts on the bone, one anteriorly and one posteriorly. Then the bone can be repositioned in a reduced position. In patients with very prominent bone, i sometimes remove a piece of the bone. I do not use any metal plates or wires. The bone heals well in a reduced position. I have performed hundreds of cheek reduction over the past 20 years here in my New York office.

Cheekbone reduction surgery done her in the US is just as effective as in Korea or China. In my experience most U.S. patients are not of Asian ethnicity but that doesn't change the basic approach to the surgery. It is done through a combined intraoral incision for an L-shaped osteotomy through the zygomatic major and a small sideburn skin incision for the zygomatic arch osteotomy. Both osteotomy sites are secured with small plates and screws. This is the primary cheek bone reduction procedure but there are numerous variations of it based on the patient's anatomy and aesthetic goals. A 3D CT scan is needed for preoperative assessment.
