If lowering PGD2 and raising PGE2 stops hair loss, wouldn't the cure be just to use salicylic acid or Aspirin to inhibit the PGD2 and castor oil to raise the PGE2? I know that Sal and Aspirin lower both PGD2 and PGE2 but the castor oil would raise the PGE2. Or use whatever raises PGE2 and lowers PGD2. Is it false that changing the levels of PGD2 and PGE2 can affect hair loss? Has there been any studies about this? Thank you.
Answer: PGD2 and Hair Loss The role of prostoglandins in hair loss and growth is an exciting new avenue of research , but I am not aware that treatments derived from this research have reached a clinical stage. I do not know how aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) or castor oil fit into the PGD2 equation but they are safe to take in moderation and there is no reason you can't experiment on yourself. My guess is that if either of these substances were efficacious in decreasing hair loss, we would already know.

Answer: PGD2 and PGE2 in hairloss Aspirin, salicyclic acid and castor oil don't have much of a role in altering hair loss. If these drugs only altered one pathway then we might be onto something - but they don't. Reducing PGD2 does seem to be a good approach overall.
