I would first like to know what "type" of numbness you are experiencing. Temporary numbeness as described by a "woody" sensation may be normal and should really resolve fairly quickly ( less than 10 days). If you have numbness of your lower lip or chin area then I would have you speak with you surgeon about that as this may a different issue.

After having submental Smartlipo it is normal tohave a slight numb feeling. Post procedure swelling, bruising, and numbness mayoccur but they will subside within the next few weeks. Continue to wear yourcompression garment and attend your regularly scheduled follow up appointments.
Likely it is a lymph node that responded(swelled) to the "trauma" of the procedure, however, it can sometimes represent a fluid collection--which can be treated. Have your surgeon evaluate it. The numbness and firmness in the liposuctioned area is expected. Give it time, it will improve.
Swelling after Smartlipo is normal, please do not worry. You will be swollen for the next few weeks, wearing the compression garment will help with any swelling that may occur. Follow up with your surgeon and you will eventually see the swelling reside and your new figure.
