Ichthyosis (vulgaris, moderate to severe) and chemical exfoliation - how much is too much? (photo)

September 26, 2017

I have moderate to severe ichthyosis vulgaris. Struggled with a red face for the past 10 yrs and think it was caused by old routine. I used to manually scrub away dead skin on face, followed by 4% salicylic acid fatty cream 2x daily. For the past 3 months I've been using 8% aha 1x day and quit the physical exfoliation. This has slightly reduced the redness, but not eliminated it. I use 10% aha lotion on my body 2x daily with no issue. Could my red face be a result of over exfoliation? What then?
