I incurred an abscess 4 month post op Rhinoplasty. Could that have anything to do with a deviated septum?

It's hard to say for certain without examining your nose or having a fuller idea of your prior nasal history, but I wouldn't imagine that a nasal abscess would cause a deviation infection. I would think that the deviation was there to begin with. It sounds like your should be seen by a nasal expert (facial plastic surgeon or ear, nose, throat doctor) who can check things out in more detail.

Sorry this happened to you. Actually, developing an infection four months after your rhinoplasty  is not very common. You should contact your plastic surgeon so he can evaluate you. He may need to refer you to an ENT specialist.

I'm sorry you had this happen. Usually a deviated septum will not cause an infection, it will just obstruct the airflow through one or both sides of the nose. The most common source of infection after the immediate post-operative period is a suture abscess. These may happen either with longer lasting absorbable sutures, or with sutures meant to stay permanently. I would recommend discussing your situation with your surgeon. He may be able to examine your entire nasal cavity with an endoscope and further evaluate your septum. If they are unable to do so, I would find a surgeon who is trained in Otolaryngology (ENT) and they may have the specialized tools necessary to examine you.
