Delayed wound healing should be addressed with your plastic surgeon. Our office specializes in revision tummy tuck surgery should you require scar revision in the future. Raffy Karamanoukian MD FACS
You have necrosis (tissue death) at your wound edge. there may be several causes for this, but you will in all likelihood need removal of the dead tissue and then treatment with dressing changes at home until the wound contracts and heals. this can take several months. after everything has settled down you probably will need a scar revision. Good Luck!
The wound appears to have broken down and a eschar (scab) has formed. The edges of the wound are red consistent with a cellulitis or infection. Wound management includes debridement of the eschar and all necrotic tissue under the eschar. A daily routine of dressing changes is initiated to keep the wound clean. The wound then heals from the bottom up. It may take a month or two for closure. Antibiotics may be necessary. The resulting scar will be a little larger and wider but a scar revision may help modify the final scar. Consult your surgeon asap.Best wishes
Thank you for your question and picture. The area of yellow and darkened tissue is where the overlying skin has 'died' and the wound has separated throughout this area of poor healing. You should absolutely contact your plastic surgeon so that he/she may evaluate your wound and guide you through the healing process. Most commonly, the treatment of this wound initially involves the removal of any non-living tissue. The remaining healthy tissue is then allowed to heal with daily dressing changes. Discuss the long term results of this wound healing issue with your plastic surgeon. Most likely the scar in the affected area will heal wider and can be fixed when adequate healing is complete
There appears to be some tissue necrosis (dead skin and fat) along the edge of the incision. There could be infection, but the appearance is more consistent with necrosis. You do not need to be alarmed. This is not a rare event and it can be treated easily with local wound care. But it does need to be evaluated by your plastic surgeon as soon as possible.
This is not normal. See your Plastic Surgeon as soon as possible. You have a possible infection,a some of the tissue may have died. Your plastic surgeon will guide you through the healing process.
A tummy tuck removes loose skin, repairs a muscle separation when necessary, and removes any localized excess fat. Without leaving a scar, the only option is liposuction. There are exaggerated claims about skin tightening with laser-assisted lipo and other technologies but none of them come...
The tummy tuck would be able to address loose skin and tighten the abdominal wall. This could be done 3 months after the previous surgery. Find a plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of tummy tuck procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo...
Your plastic surgeon will give you specific guidance on how to best manage your scars after tummy tuck. For any scar treatment, you should look for clinical trials in which half of a scar is treated compared to the other half with standard care. Since scars tend to improve with time anyway,...
Your hemoglobin is a bit on the low side which is not uncommon in men starting women, but not so low that it will require postponing the surgery. Your surgeon may recommend you take vitamins with iron to help this. The platelet count is high but not indicative of any specific problem and...
When it comes to your safety, I agree that this should be paramount. I think you have to trust the judgment of your surgeon. I limit body procedures to about 4 hours, and I think that there is such a thing as too much at one time.Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs...
The belt lipectomy combined with a tummy tuck is a good procedure but usually only needed in cases of significant weight loss due to gastric bypass or lap band surgery. Most women for tummy tucks only need the tightening in front from hip to hip.
