I also have a bump on my nose in addition to it sitting crooked on my face , however, both imperfections are more on the subtle side. I would much prefer a closed surgery but don't want to waste my time with a closed surgery if it won't straighten and center my nose on my face.
Answer: Crooked nose-fix closed or open? Asymmetry of the nose, as it sits on the face, is a very common concern in rhinoplasty patients--you are not alone! What you should know is that the experience of the surgeon is probably more important than the technique used. Furthermore, the asymmetry of the nose is often not *completely* corrected, despite the experience of the surgeon. The reason for this is complicated, and would vary from patient to patient . However, some improvement is often possible. An experience, honest surgeon would give you a fair assessment based on your specific anatomy, and that comes only with personal consultation.Best,Dr. Most

Answer: Rhinoplasty Closed rhinoplasty can deal with asymmetry just as well as open rhinoplasty. You need to find a surgeon who is experienced with closed rhinoplasty. With either open or closed rhinoplasty, if you have pre-existing asymmetry, it can be difficult to straighten completely.

Answer: Can a closed #rhinoplasty straighten the nose and remove a bump? You will probably find surgeons who recommend an open/ external rhinoplasty for all patients. However, for most cases of nasal dorsal reduction and osteotomies to straighten the nose, a closed approach is adequate. Typically, I will recommend an open approach only for patients who require significant tip modification or for revision surgery. I hope this answer is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: My nose points slightly to the left. Can this be straighten with a closed Rhinoplasty surgery? Excellent cosmetic results can be achieved with both techniques. There is not a best way to perform the procedure. Individual surgeons have their own preferences of how to produce the best results in their hands. What is more important than whether a closed or open approach is utilized is the experience and artistry of the plastic surgeon and your comfort level and confidence in that individual.Following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon with extensive nasal surgery experience who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
