Your phototrichogram show miniaturization and decreased density. This is suggestive of Female Pattern Alopecia. A hair biopsy is recommended as well as bloodwork. You may have had Telogen Effluvium that unmasked the problem. Find a hair expert.

The point that should not be missed here is “how does one diagnose hair loss anyways?” We diagnose hair loss by reviewing the full story of the patient’s hair loss and medical history together with a full scalp examination. None of these have been outlined here so all that we have is trichoscopy images. One does not confidently (with 100 % certainty) diagnose hair loss in this manner. However, what I can say is that there is a suggestion of androgenetic alopecia. Whether telgen effluvium is ALSO present can not be determined on these photos at all. A proper review of the history together with a full examination will get to the answer. A biopsy is probably not needed but if it is done it needs to be taken from the mid-scalp area not anywhere else. A terminal to vellus hair ratio less than 4:1 would suggest FPHL.

It is possible to have telogen effluvium from stress and illness that unmasks an underlying genetic hair loss pattern. I would suggest seeing a hair loss surgeon to complete a biopsy and have appropriate bloodwork completed. This will be helpful in clarify the underlying cause(s) and help formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
