How long does it take for lid position to return to normal after ectropion repair?

Try to be patient.  These things are ereal surgeries and the take time to heal.  You did not provide photos but really you need to give this time.

It can take a few weeks for the lid to settle depending on the amount of inflammation you had post-op.  For the side with the ectropion, you were probably pulled a little higher so it may look a bit Asian.  This should slowly resolve.  If you have a lot of swelling on that side the eye may also appear smaller. Give it more time to heal.    

Hi Nija, You have a great question, one that almost everyone asks after any kind of plastic surgery, but especially ectropion repair. The best way to get a good answer is to talk to your surgeon. Your surgeon won't mind being asked this question, and it is important to have open communication with your doctor (before, during and after any procedure). That being said, I generally tell all my patients that the main bruising is for about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the incisions are mostly healed, but there is still a significant amount of swelling, that can last until about 6 weeks, depending on the medications that you take. The full healing time for any plastic surgery is about a year! So be patient. Now, with ectropion, your doctor is trying to put the lid in the correct position, in such a way that it will last for life. It is normal for it to look too high at first. Everything droops with time! I wouldn't be concerned if it looks a little off now (because that is normal), but I would recommend that you talk to your surgeon (because it will help you feel more at ease). Good luck! :)
