Would having children after a BBL affect the results or should I wait until I’m completely done having kids before a BBL?

I want to have a mommy makeover along with a bbl. I am not done having children so I decided to go with a BBL first. Would having children after a BBL affect the results or should I wait until I’m completely done having kids before a BBL as well?

hello thank you for your question and provided information as well. Based on your question, it is a very personal decision, but my recommendation is to have the children that you are going to have and then plan a plastic surgery.

Great question!  Do understand that with a BBL, there are live living fatty tissue in the buttocks that will grow and shrink with weight gain and weight loss.  Although the pregnancy itself will not directly affect the results, having the body undergo significant weight gain then significant weight loss can affect the volume and shape of the buttocks.  So long story short, yes the affects of pregnancy can change the results of the BBL due to the weight gain and weight loss associated with this.Best of luck and hope this information helps!

Many patients who undergo BBL and lipo have children after the procedures. I typically recommend that a patient wait at least six months to become pregnant after a BBL.  The procedure forever alters the distribution of fat in a favorable way.  The fat that lives in the buttocks from the procedure will get larger with weight gain and smaller with weight loss.  Pregnancy can definitely change your overall shape, muscle tone, and skin laxity. The effects of liposuction on the skin are variable based upon the elasticity of the skin. If you go through a pregnancy, the skin will lose some of its elasticity.  This loss of elasticity will occur whether you have the liposuction or not.  Very few women have good skin after pregnancy, but you may be one of the lucky ones.

Weight gain and estrogen level changes during pregnancy can alter fat deposition.  There is no scientific data to suggest that changes in Buttock size and shape during pregnancy is significant or permanent.  The majority of patients who have bbl get pregnant and there do not seem to be issues with that.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
After a BBL, you lose or gain weight in the same way as before. So, if you gain a considerable amount of weight, the results of your surgery will be affected.
If you have any concerns, I suggest you to follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

I'm not a big fan of the term mommy makeover. I find it and precise and honestly somewhat demeaning.  It's a term that is generally used for a combined procedures to correct changes women sometimes experience after having children. It generally entails a tummy tuck and some for my breast surgery generally a lift with or without implants but sometimes a reduction.  Of these a Tommy talk should generally be avoided until someone is done having children.  pregnancies generally have little impact on breast augmentation's. Breast lift also I reasonable procedures to have even with planned future pregnancies.  Breast reductions are generally OK to have even if planning a future pregnancies though depending how the procedure is done some women can have limited success with breast-feeding the most can breast-feed successfully after a breast reduction.  Despite common popular belief pregnancy does not change someone's fat distribution. Because the abdomen sometimes experiences skin laxity and muscle separation there is an appearance of having more fat in this area the before pregnancies but in reality the changes are the covering fascia of  The abdominal muscles  and skin laxity.  Both these changes are corrected with a full tummy tuck  but not liposuction.  Still the majority of patients I see specifically for liposuction are postpartum women. Requesting abdominal liposuction  As well, fat transfer results are not changed from pregnancy such as a BBL.  I see no reason why you could not feel better about your body by moving forward with these procedures now with the exception of a full tummy tuck which is best done after the last child.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
