New zirconia crowns look terrible, gap has appeared. Will brushing and bite guard help the gums grow over the gap?

Got an implant and new zirconia crowns.  A gap has appeared and they look terrible but my dentist thinks that brushing and a bite guard will help the gums grow over the gaps - is this a possibility?? The whole process cost a fortune.Any advice would be very helpful :-)
