It's been almost 6 months since I had rhinoplasty and my upper lip still looks different than it did six months ago. I know that a change in the tip of the nose can give the illusion that the lip has changed but this is not the case. The upper lip covers most of the upper teeth, much more than before. Unfortunately, after having had a check-up after three months, my surgeon is unlikely to be available for another check up. Is it possible that the swelling of the lip is still not resolved?

Answer: Rhinoplasty If you had a tight upper lip prior to rhinoplasty it’s possible that the surgery took tension off the upper lip causing it to seem longer. Photos would really help

Answer: Rhinoplasty results You should follow up with your provider since he or she is responsible for the outcome of the procedure. To make an accurate assessment on the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we generally always need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before, and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Without seeing before, and after pictures, we can’t begin to make an assessment. I suggest you follow up with your provider or schedule a proper in person second opinion consultation. For a second opinion, consultations come prepared bringing with you a complete set a before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report. These should all be available from your current providers office. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
