When is the correct time to start treating the scars after breast lift/implants?

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. Hello, thank you for your question. Typically we ask our patients to start with silicone based either gel or tapes at 3 weeks post operatively if everything is healing according to plan. Speak to your plastic surgeon about when they suggest your can start safely applying silicone tapes. It usually takes about 1 year for scars to mature to implement other treatments such as laser or micropigmentation tattoo and microneedling to the scars. sometimes kenalog injections maybe usued prior to the one year mark. Once the sutures or tapes are removed, scar products can be started and should continue until 6 months for best results.
