What likely happened is that the Dysport weakened a muscle around your eyes called the orbicularis oculi. This muscle helps support the lower eyelid and keep the fat pads under your eyes in place. When that muscle is relaxed too much, it can make those fat pads look more visible or “puffy.”
This isn’t true swelling or fluid buildup — it’s usually fat herniation, meaning the natural fat under your eyes is showing more because the muscle that used to hold it back is temporarily weakened.
This can happen naturally with age as that muscle loses tone, but in your case, the Dysport sped that up. You probably didn’t have a “jelly roll” (which comes from an overactive muscle), but rather a slightly weak muscle and early fat herniation. So, using toxin made it more noticeable instead of better.
The good news is that the effect is temporary and will gradually improve as the Dysport wears off — usually within 4 to 6 months. If the bags stay visible after that, a lower eyelid surgery (lower blepharoplasty) can correct it by repositioning or partially removing the fat for a smoother look.
