Before I book a consultation for rhinoplasty, I would like to be educated on this topic as much as possible. I’m constantly seeing videos of nose exercises and claims that squeezing and manipulating the nose will work just as well and there people in the comments saying it works. If this is true, can I squeeze the sides of my noses and pinch the tip to change it? Will this guarantee the same effects as rhinoplasty? Why or why not? Thank you.
Answer: NO- I Recommend Rhinoplasty | Plastic Surgery Nosejob Expert | Nasal Manipulation Massages | Change Shape Size Lift Tip | BH LA Hello and thank you for your question. I actually answered your similar question from 4/6/23. To help other people with similar questions, I have copied my answer here as follows: Unfortunately, despite what you might find online, nose manipulation exercises and massages do NOT change the shape of the nose or tip! The only effect you might see is creation of a horizontal crease above your tip if you frequently rub your nose or push the tip up (due to the skin folding- similar to how your forehead develops wrinkles as you age). To address the size or shape of the nose, you would need surgery to adjust the underlying structural framework. Addressing the shape of your nose (especially the nasal tip) is actually one of the most common reasons people seek out and undergo a rhinoplasty. An open septorhinoplasty can best address both your aesthetic concerns and any functional issues with your nose. I would be able to adjust the size, shape, and definition of your nose (especially tip)! This truly is a surgery of millimeters- and whether you're looking for a minor adjustment or a major transformation, it requires exceptional surgical skill to achieve functional and natural-looking results! Because your nose is the DEFINING feature of your face- I would only recommend seeing a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty procedures, and who has significant training and experience performing these surgeries. I actually trained under one of the world leading rhinoplasty experts (who performs 1,000+ nosejobs annually). I recommend for you to setup a formal consultation with me (or another plastic surgeon who is extremely comfortable with rhinoplasties) to thoroughly discuss your surgical goals, undergo a formal examination, evaluate your options, and develop a personalized plan just for you. I hope this helps! Dr. Donald Groves Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon

Answer: External nasal squeezing devices do not permanently change the shape of somebody's nose. Rhinoplasty surgery is the surgery involving the nasal cartilage and bone. It is likened to microcarpentry. In order to achieve a desired result, the cartilage and bone of somebody's nose needs to be surgically altered. Since pinching or squeezing the nose does not do any permanent alteration to the cartilage and bone of somebody's nose, it does not lead to any permanent results. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Consider A Nonsurgical Filler Nose Job Vs. Following The Advice Of Drs. Google, YouTube & Instagram Since no photos were provided, I really cannot comment specifically. But, what I can say is that if you are looking for a simple, quick,, relatively inexpensive approach to addressing certain nasal issues, such as nasal bridge bumps, humps, etc. or nasal tip clefts or a pinched nasal tip, then you may wish to consider a consultation with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist experienced in performing Filler Nose Jobs. The results of these are immediate and they engender little to no significant downtime. I personally have been performing them routinely for well over twenty years. As to the videos you have seen, in a very recent article in one of my waiting room magazines entitled, "The Dangers Of Doctor Google," the author wrote, "...there's also plenty of questionable and inaccurate info floating around out there. Even facts can be presented in a misleading way..." The author goes on to say, " Passionate belief that something worked for one person is not a panacea." And finally, "The unregulated nature of social media means that users can be vulnerable to unsubstantiated claims--there are no editors fact-checking posted content." There is no reason to believe that pinching or squeezing or other manipulations of the nose will produce anything, but temporary swelling, which may produce a temporary improvement, for perhaps a day or two, at least until the edema is reabsorbed. Hope this helps.
