Vanquish vs Ultrashape. What would be best for my arms?

Hello and I appreciate your inquiry. Vanquish and Ultrashape use different technology but work in a similar fashion to liquefy fat cells in the target area so they can be eliminated by the body. Both these devices work reasonably well on the midsection, but arm shaping can be a bit more challenging. I usually use CoolSculpting or tumescent liposuction for the arms, sometimes combined with ThermiTight for skin tightening if loose skin is also present. I recommend you visit with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist who has extensive experience and multiple options in body contouring. Through a comprehensive assessment, you should be able to design a personalized treatment plan that will address all of your needs and goals beautifully. 

Both Vanquish ME and Ultrashape are reasonably good options for noninvasive arm contouring and tightening. In my experience with my patients, Vanquish ME gives better results for the abdomen or thighs, but for arms we've had the best results using a combination approach with Coolsculpting followed by Radiofrequency/Ultrasound with either Exilis Ultra or Trusculpt. Both are good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but lack body shaping, which the arms need. For best results shaping the arms, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF/J Plasma/Renuvion/InMode BodyTite and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. Theresa.  Satisfaction after noninvasive fat reduction treatment varies significantly. I have performed liposuction on many patients who were unhappy with their results after undergoing multiple treatments with Coolsculpt, ultratherapy and vanquish procedures. Traditional liposuction is still the gold standard with regard to targeted fat reduction. In your case Micro Liposuction may be the best option because you require modest fat removal with contouring. Non-invasive fat reduction treatment like the ones you describe offer no downtime, no pain and require three treatments for optimal results. However, success rates vary significantly and numerous unhappy patients end up opting for traditional Liposuction to attain their desired results.  Traditional liposuction offer is a time tested, high satisfaction procedure with little down time and predictable long term results.  Come see me or another board-certified plastic surgeon to explore the best options for you.
