When is it safe to Vape (low nic) after gynocymastia surgery? I had to get double incision.

Question

I am 3 weeks post op, but had to have a Hematoma drained surgically a week ago. They had to reopen that whole side's incision. I still have alot of bruising on that side and a bit of swelling. the other side looks really good. I havent been vaping, but really would like to know when Im out of the woods of complications, and I can be released from restrictions like vaping, drinking, driving, running and etc.

Low nicotine is still nicotine and it can interfere with healing. You are still in the healing stages. These questions should be addressed to your surgeon. For my patients I want them to avoid all smoking for a month before and after surgery. You should be able to drive now as long as you are not taking any pain meds, and you should be finished with those. Drinking in moderation should be OK now. As far as running, I have my patients wait 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how they are healing, before resuming any type of formal exercise. Good luck.

Obviously the best answer is to never vape. I tell my smokers that they should probably hold off for at least 2-4 weeks post-op or until they are deemed healed by their surgeon.

Patients have been known to bleed up to three weeks after any surgery.  Gynecomastia surgery is no exception to the rule.  Therefore, restriction to activity should last for at least 3 weeks.  Smoking is known to interfere with healing and marijuana use has been associated with the development of gynecomastia.  In view of this, I would recommend limitation of heavy activity and running until the swelling in the surgical side is back to normal.  Alcohol in moderation is possible at this stage, so is driving.
