Hi, and thanks for your question regarding placing veneers over your baby teeth. As it appears from your pictures, it looks like you never lost your primary (baby) canines. It is actually more common than you may think to see adults with some primary teeth still in their mouths. Sometimes the primary teeth have long roots, and are very stable, and sometimes they are not. The first thing to consider is how much bone support those teeth have. If there is little to no support, then I would recommend against placing a veneer. The reason would be that once you prep that tooth, and place a veneer, the forces applied to that root will change, and you could easily lose that tooth. That would not be good if you just invested a few thousand dollars on veneers. If the baby teeth DO have good bone support, then yes, a veneer would be a good option to improve the appearance of your smile. You must also consider one other very important thing when looking at those teeth, and that is the gumline. As your teeth look right now, even with a new veneer, the tooth will probably be small. The reason is that the gumline never developed properly when you did not lose that tooth. It is quite likely, that in order to improve the appearance of your smile and those teeth, you might also need a minor gum surgery to lift the gumline in that area. This is something that must be discussed with the cosmetic dentist, and possibly a periodontist, that you choose to improve your smile. Please don't ignore this factor, as this might make all the difference in your final results. Best of luck, Dr. Alvarez
