Porcelain veneers are cutting up my mouth

There are instances as my colleague mentioned where adapting to new veneers can take a little longer. This is because of remnants of the fitting process such as cement and adhesive, or rough edges on temporary veneers. Similarly, when the veneers are fitted, some abrasion of you oral tissues is inevitable as it is an extensive process. 
Add to all that your numbing up for the procedure and you can quite often bite yourself and start a painful cycle of ulcerating your own oral soft tissues with your teeth, which because of the bacteria that love on them can result in a extended healing process. 
Often with softer food, and the use of salt water rinses you can get back to a more stable situation quite soon. Speak to your dentist to find out what additional advice s/he can give.

What you describe IS unusual, but most cases DO take a bit of "getting used to".  The cause of your situation could be many things, like a reaction to the cement, cement residue needing removal, reaction to anesthetic agents, etc.  It is best to have your dentist evaluate and treat.  If they are the temporaries, then I would reserve judgement until the finals are placed.  If they were placed 2 days ago, I would give a bit more time.
