How much is a mole excision in New York, NY in 2015?

How much is a cosmetic mole excision in New York, NY or its neighboring boroughs? I have a raised mole, 8 mm diameter, on my face, near my temple hairline area. A dermatologist said it looks benign. Also, what should I look for in the doctor who will perform the work on me? Lastly, for post operation care, what are your thoughts on a cream called Biocorneum vs. Aquaphor? Hi, pricing varies depending on size and location of the lesion land the approach used. I would have to look at it to determine exact numbers. With respect to your surgeons qualifications, ask your physician if they have experience in mole removals on the face. Specialties vary from Dermatology to Facial Plastic Surgery. Its a relatively straight forward procedure, if sutures are used, they are usually removed by 7 days and topical wound care will depend on your physician preference.

Dear natureluver (me, too, by the way):I don't know what others in my area charge but we charge $200 for a shave removal of a benign nevus (and it sounds like that is what you would need) and $500 for an excision with two layers of sutures.Look for a board-certified dermatologist with some years of experience.  Aquaphor works create with no irritant or allergic reactions, and following healing, application of a retinoid like Retin A, Atralin, Tazarac or certain formulations of Retinol will help healing. Any problems?  Laser works wonderfully!If you really want to try a healing cream, I would recommend Biafine, which calls macrophages to the skin and helps with wound healing. These small removals usually do not scar in any significant way as long as you follow the suggestions for after-care.All the best,Dr. Clark
