Will the indent in my skin from getting stitches go away on its own? If it doesn't, what could I do to even it out?

I got a mole excision on my arm and shin because they both turned out to be of moderate concern after a shave biopsy. The stitches are out now, but the skin is indented on both and there's a bump above and below each scar from the skin being pulled together. The indent is fairly obvious, and I was wondering when it would go away. Or, if it won't, if there was a way to even the skin out.
