There are multiple reasons why your earrings may not be going back in after a facelift. Your surgeon should be able to help your with placing your earrings back into your earlobes. A facelift requires incisions around the earlobe and the earlobes are usually temporarily numb after the procedure, with some swelling that takes time to resolve. Because of the numbness and swelling, you may not be used to getting your earring in the same way. Rarely, the holes in the earlobe close and have to be redone. I am sure your surgeon would be happy to help you with this.
Hi. This is typically due to post-op swelling in the area, which temporarily closed the earring hole. It usually settles down with a little more time.Take an earring with you to your next appointment, and have your surgeon check the area. Sometimes, it's easier to get the earring back in under direct vision, or with a small probe.
Be patient and give wait until the swelling disappears; in case finally you are unable to insert the pin then do pierce a new location on the earlobe.
Absolutely. Of course your surgeon should be able to do this - make sure you go to him/her with silver or gold stub earrings. I would prefer having done in the office rather than at the mall...
Either the holes are swollen shut, or the hole was removed during the facelift. Your surgeon can help you with this.
Thank you for your question. Two weeks after your facelift surgery, there is still significant edema and swelling. Your piercings may be swollen shut, or with with some numbness, you may not be able to insert your earrings correctly. If they are indeed closed, your surgeon can reopen them for you. I suggest seeing your plastic surgeon again and telling them your concerns.Regards,Manish Champaneria, MD

Hello dailyplanet, Thank you for your question.Without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of any further treatments it is difficult to be comprehensive. It maybe that the earlobes are too swollen and the hole is just swollen closed. I would have your surgeon look to see if the same piercing sites are still available after your surgery. Best of luck, Dr. S
Thanks for your question and photo. Your surgeon can help you with this. The hole may have been removed closed shut during surgery. Best Wishes, Dr. Mentz
You may have swelling in the vicinity which is making it difficult for you to insert the earrings. When you return to your surgeon for followup, bring a pair of small posts with you. He may be able to insert them or advise as to what is going on in the area.
Hello ikJ, Thank you for your question. The combination of fat grafting and facelift can lead to a tremendous amount of swelling. Being patient is key. The beauty of fat grafting is that it is permanent, however this can be problematic in some instances. I would...
Thank you for your question.Incision placement varies with each patient, hairline geometry, and type of lift.Ask your surgeon to draw on your picture where your incisions will be.Best wishes.
