Any information about YAG/Aerolase Laser melting facial filler? Any personal experiences or info about studies done?

Radiesse was injected in the cheeks by a Dr I’ve trusted for years. One month later at a different office, I was getting a Aerolase (type of YAG laser) for a byosy scar on my neck, and redness on my face. I had concerns that some lasers could melt filler. I told the technician I had filler about 30 days earlier, maybe she should not do my face, she assured me it was safe for the filler.The next day there was a slight change, but over a months time it melted down to almost nothing. 3 months gone

I appreciate your concern. Your laser treatment should not impact the results of your filler. Filler in the midface is administered at a much greater depth than the laser will target. It is not unusual to see Radiesse dissipate a bit as the original support of the filler wears off and collagen production takes over. I would schedule a follow-up with your provider to determine whether that is the case. Always work with a board-certified dermatologist for both of these treatments to ensure they are administered correctly so you enjoy an optimal outcome with every treatment session.

The penetration of the Aerolase limited to the dermis. Most fillers, particularly Radiesse in the cheeks is injected much deeper. There have been multiple studies showing no affect on fillers by lasers. Keep in mind there is a carrier within Radiesse that is degraded over about 6-8 weeks. It takes the body longer to produce collagen in response to the calcium hydroxyapatite, about 3-4 months. There is typically a period "of disappointment" which than fades as the collagen is produced.
