I can still feel Radiesse in my face after 1 year. Is this normal?

Radiesse was placed in my cheeks October 2019.... it's November 2020. Apparently I had almost 3cc of Radiesse places in my cheeks (not knowing) and to this day I still feel it. Do you know Any facial specialists doctors that can remove this? Can this be removed through my mouth? The Radiesse was placed with cannula.

Radiesse is a stimulatory filler that is an excellent option for patients who desire a longer-lasting filler alternative to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. In our office, we use Radiesse to complement structural areas of the face and contour bony prominences. Our office also is a center of excellence for filler complication treatments and we see patients who have been treated by other doctors and have undesirable results from Radiesse or other long-lasting fillers. We have treatment options available for Radiesse filler nodules, granulomas, and soft tissue thickening. The first step would be to diagnose the nodularity and determine whether there is an option for surgical vs. non-surgical removal. Surgical excision is a possibility in some patients; whereas others with more diffuse fillers may benefit from intralesional therapy using scar modulators and enzymes and kenalog. Radiesse complications may be long-lasting and prompt action is key. Patients who have no access to an expert in the field should begin gentle massage of the areas of nodularity with Plato’s Scar Serum twice daily. RF and invasive lasers can actually do more damage by stimulating further collagen growth.

radiesse lasts 12-18 mouths and sometimes longer as there is collagen production. I suggest coming in and having a look as you cannot remove this but often 5fu/steroid injections help.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Radiesse will dissolve by itself over time.  It can last up to 18 months.  There is not a simple method to remove Radiesse, so I would recommend just waiting some more time for your issue to improve by itself.

Radiesse will last 1.5 to 2 years and studies show that fillers actually lasts longer than expected so what you are feeling is probably the Radiesse. Radiesse can’t be dissolved.

Hi there,
Honestly Radiesse is a calcium based filler and with Collagen stimulation you may still feel it but it would be better to just stay the course then to try and dissolve it.  That could be even more problematic.
You could gently massage the area for a few weeks and see if that helps.  Don't worry it only last 12 to 18 months so you are almost there.
