The swelling in my face has not gone down much at all—is this normal? Is facetite reversible? Can the fluid in my face be drained?
Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Normal! Thanks for your question! At 5 days post-op, persistent swelling is still normal. Facetite is usually done with infusion of tumescent fluid so there can be 'extra' swelling that will decrease with time! Facetite isn't necessarily 'reversible' - it depends on what you mean by reversible. Facetite is simply emission of radiofrequency through tissue and there isn't an injectable or alternative that can take that away. With regards to fluid drainage, forced drainage is really only viable with consolidated fluid such as seromas, or when enough tissue has been dissected away from it's base that a drain can be placed. Since Facetite doesn't require this level of dissection, drains are not able to be placed for these procedures. Give it time and the swelling will decrease ). Best of luck!
