I have a empress bridge in my upper front mouth the abutment is in on both sides but the middle tooth got knocked out.

Hello there,I'm sorry to hear that your bridge fractured.  Unfortunately, your missing tooth can not be permanently bonded to the abutments.  I would recommend that you schedule an appointment with your dentist to have a new bridge made. Unfortunately, it sounds like the missing tooth, known as the "pontic" fractured off of the bridge. Two options treatment options would typically include:1) Replacement of the Empress bridge (high aesthetics, so so strength) with a stronger cermaic bridge ie. Emax (Nice Aesthetics and good strength or Zirconia Ok Aesthetics and Great strength)or2) Replacement of missing tooth with an implant supported abutment and crown and replacement or possiblly keeping and polishing of the two abutment crowns.Good Luck!

This is the pontic that was lost and it is why Empress is often not used for bridges in spite of the beautiful esthetic results that can be achieved.  You may be able to temporarily attatch the lost pontic but will need to replace the bridge.  E-max is probably the best choice but zirconia is stronger.E-max can gice esthetic results equal to empress zirconia usually not as esthetic.Ira L Shapira DDS, D,ABDSM, D,AAPM, FICCMPThinkBetterLife.com
