Does the use of estrogen patches and cyclic progesterone to treat hypothalamic amenorrhea create a risk of hyperpigmentation from laser hair removal or increase photosensitivity? I'm probably skin type III, maybe borderline IV (especially in summer) with brown hair. I was told the Alex laser on Cynosure Elite would be good for me (but possible yag for bikini where skin is darker/purplish color). Does that sound right?

Thank you for your question. All skin types from fair skinned to dark are potential client’s for laser hair removal. The treatments are performed anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks apart.  Areas such as the face, neck and underarm takes approximately 4 weeks. Areas such as the back, legs and arms usually take 6 to 8 weeks and bikini from 4 to 6 weeks apart. In my office, I usually utilize lasers such as the alexandrite for light skin and YAG for ethnic and dark and tanned skin. I recommend you to consult an expert in laser hair removal to determine the best treatment plan for you. All the best!
