I'm seeing widely varying answers: https://realself.com/question/los-angeles-ca-donor-hair-sitesother-than-head-cn-donor-hair-harvested-frm-hw, answers say 5000-7500, and 8000 for the average caucasian male. Another websites says average 6000. https://realself.com/question/albert-city-ia-grafts-man-fue-donor-area, answers say 6000-8000 and 6000. "Estimating the Number of Lifetime Follicular Units" says Type VI has 5393 (4204-6661) depending on donor hair density. What should I believe?
Answer: Hair grafts Hello, and thank you for this question.this will certainly vary from person to person but in the best case scenario with good hair density a patient may have approximately 8-10,000 grafts that can be harvested and transplanted.this is generally gone over multiple sessions. Understand that if you have less density and poor quality hair you may have much less than this.I would recommend that you discuss all of this with a qualified treating physician in your area. Best of luck.

Answer: How many hair grafts are really in the donor area? Please remember that the number of the grafts that can be harvested from nape at hair restoration surgery depends on the hair quality (color, color difference between skin/hair, thickness of the hair, curviness or straightness etc) and density of the hair on donor area . So thin it may change between 7000- 4500 grfats without creating any defect on donor arae (nape) ..

Answer: Donor araea There are five characteristics that vary with each person, that determine the value of the hair for a hair restoration procedure. They are: Density of the hair. Yours is lower than average, but that in itself does not necessarily mean that you are not a good candidateHair shaft thickness. The coarser the hair, the better it supplies bulk. Hair bulk is a critical element in producing fullness and coverage. The size of the balding area. The more bald you are, the more hair you might need. Sometimes, the goals may be changes to adjust to limited supply or a demand that is too high. That is something you must work through with your doctor. The characteristics of your hair. African hair is the best because it wants to cover, good wavy hair is the next best because it wants to flow together. The Italians and French had the best wavy hair. Straight is the most challenging, as found in many Asians.Color/contrast between hair and skin color. This is critically important. A Class 6 pattern blonde person could reduce his hair population to 85% of its original density and still look full as the blonde hair and blonde skin have low contrast. The same applies to black hair and black skin, brown hair and brown hair, sandy hair and sandy skin and any skin color with white hair. Salt and pepper hair works very well and I have produced some amazing results in very bald men with very little hair. The donor area density varies by race and individual. Regardless of your race, the donor area should be counted by your surgeon and then your donor bank can be determined. The range of grafts that are harvestable ranges from 5000-13000 so the counting is critical.
