Can a fibroadenoma be taken out during a breast reduction/lift?

i have a 36g breast and have a fibroadenoma in one of them which is apparently benign. can it be taken out during a breast reduction/lift?

Thank you for the question. Breast reduction surgery tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform. Yes, benign lesions such as fibroadenomas can certainly be removed during the procedure. This is a very simple procedure, especially if the lesion is in the "pattern" of breast tissue being removed. Otherwise, if the lesion is remote from the breast reduction incision lines, a separate incision may be necessary.  Make sure that you remember to discuss your concerns/goals/questions directly with your plastic surgeon, preferably in front of a full length mirror. Always best to remind your plastic surgeon the day of surgery as well. Best wishes.

A fibroadenoma can sometimes be removed at the same time as a breast reduction. It really depends upon where it is located.

Normally yes - depending on exactly where on the breast it is, and how large.
