What to expect with regards to fat transfer "blossoming"?

In researching fat transfer (to the face) I've come across a few references to a "blossoming" that takes place after the blood supply to transferred fat is well established. Is there any consensus on this matter? Is there any scientific literature to support claims of "blossoming"? Can you share anecdotal evidence that you've seen in your practice? Thank you.

I've done fat transfer for over 30 years and my current technique for almost 25 and the only side effect I have ever seen from fat transfer is that often the skin over the treated area looks more youthful.

Hey Tiger'sEye.  Thank you for your questions.  I have found, in my practice, that this procedure has great results.  I am not sure what "blossoming" you refer to.  Once injected, you should have a normal amount of bruising and swelling associated with the procedure.  After a few weeks, once resolved, the fat in the area(s) that was used to augment, should remain.  There may be a slight difference s/p swelling because the body will absorb a small amount of the fat back.  This is harmless and the PS should inject an amount that accommodates this process.  I have not had any problems with injections of fat to the face.
