Help!! Entire face bleeding scratches/scratches from microneedling!? (Photos)

Question

This is my 2nd microneedling session. First one I was just red, no blood, no streaks. This time I see streaks all across my face. It looks like the needles weren't going in and out, looks like they were just dragged across my face. Is this normal?? What should I do??

It is normal to have some bleeding and possibly scratches on your face a day or two after microneedling. During the procedure the needles are puncturing your skin but are also dragged across your face. Make sure you have good instructions from your doctor on how to care for your face after the procedure.

Thanks for your question and posting pictures.  I'm not sure what you were trying to solve with microneedling, but a laser would have probably done a better job without scratching up the surface.  Although we offer microneedling along with 10 other laser procedures, none of our patients have elected a microneedle treatment in the last 2+ years.  At this point, just let your face heal.  It doesn't look infected, so it should resolve in the next couple of days.  Best of luck.

From the pictures and your description of "dragged across my face", there may be several things happening here.  Do you normally have sensitive skin? It might also be the media (eg. hyaluronic acid) used, specifically, not enough of it being used on the skin.  The "dragging" can be caused by that.  Also, the depth of the needle might be too much, depending of the area of the skin.  It can also be the type of pen used, it can be defective, etc.  Finally, and unfortunately, it can be the user experience or quality of work.  So while this can happen, there are ways to avoid this in the hands of an experienced aesthetician or physician because we rarely run into this problem and if it does, its not extensive as it looks in your photos.
