I’m 41 w/ fair skin that’s prone to discoloration & broken capillaries. Throughout the years I’ve had about 10 IPL treatments without any issues. Saturday I had a treatment & later that day I developed dark red & purple marks all over my face. For point of reference it’s been about 7 yrs since my last IPL. The marks shown are all a result of the IPL. I had no prior marks in those areas. Should I be concerned about permanent damage? Is there anything I can do to expedite healing?

Thank you for your question. IPL if used at too high of a setting can cause hyperpigmentation and sometimes a burn. Be sure to follow up with your provider if your skin tone does not even out .
Thank you for your question. IPL treatment treats red vessels, hyperpigmentation and it improves the texture of your skin by producing collagen and elastin. you will pepper after the treatment and the dark spots will appear darker before they flake off. do not be alarmed. This takes 2-4 days...
Most eczema occurs in skin folds; areas that are not hair bearing. You can have laser hair removal in areas where there is no active eczema if you do have a flare just treat it with topical therapy (you should have medication to keep on hand) and have your IPL treatment after clearing.
