This is my very first time receiving BOTOX. I received 10 units of BOTOX (3 injections) on my RIGHT masseter muscle to reduce my enlarged jawline. (I am a teeth clenched) 48 hours later I was surprised by this bulge that emerged when I clench my teeth. It is not discolored. It is not painful. It is just making me laugh because it's so funny looking. Is there a problem, or is this just one of the stages that I need to go through on my way to perfection???
Answer: Botox results on jawline i suggesting waiting 2 weeks to see the ultimate outcome then evaluating your mouth under the office standardized lighting comparing the before and after results. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Botox injections for masseter hypertrophy Typically, Botox injections for masseter hypertrophy is performed on both sides not just one side.A full photo showing your right and left side would be helpful both with and without clenching. Also a copy of your provider's record that shows how many injection points and location would be informative. If the right cheek bulge goes away when unclenched, most likely cause is insufficient amount of Botox was given. Typical amount would be around 20 units per side with 4 injection points (2 lower and 2 higher). If the right cheek bulge does not go away when unclenched, I would be concerned about either a small hematoma or even an undiagnosed soft tissue mass that might need further evaluation by a qualified physician.I hope this helps.

Answer: Masseter Muscle Botox It appears that your right side which was injected has responded very well. Based on the picture, your left masseter muscle is now compensating for the weakness on the right side. Also, you may have a shift of the whole jaw to the left creating a bulge. I recommend you inject the left side with the same dose. Since the right side responded well to 10 units, you might not need more than that.

Answer: Masseter Botox injection This will not get better on it's own. I never inject one side because it can cause a shift in your bite. Also, 10 units is not enough and has caused only a partial relaxation. You need to go to someone more experienced. I would do both sides, at least 20. I would also make sure you don't have a hematoma. You are a good candidate for this.

Answer: #BotoxMasseter muscle It is possible that 10 units, not being enough to relax the large masseter, has relaxed a portion of the muscle, causing another portion to bulge when contracting. If this is the case, additional Botox should be helpful. Your physician will also want to rule out a hematoma.I am also unclear about which side was injected, as you say it was the right side but the left is bulging. If this is the case, your untreated side may be overcompensating for the relaxation on the right, and will likely need to be treated as well. All the best,Dr. Clark
