Will a breast implant revision make my scar smaller? (photo)

Question

I am 10 months post-op. I was 32AA pre-op and now 32C with Mentor Smooth Round High Profile Saline 290cc implants overfilled to 340cc with crease incision under the muscle. I am 5'1 and 110 pounds. Although I have used silicone scar sheets everyday - I am Asian, which might explain why my scars are thick and raised. I plan to go bigger with 450cc high profile silicone gummy bear implants. Will a revision fix the old scarring?

Bottom line is that we all heal differently. Silicone sheeting is great, but not a guaranty. If a surgical scar revision was attempted, the advantage would be healing under less tension than existed with the original incision.  Unfortunately, if you are up sizing, then you may be adding more tension affecting the result.  Having said  that, it may in fact just be in your genes to heal in that fashion.  I would consider up sizing to get the result you are looking for, and address the incision later if still problematic.  best of luck

If you having larger implants placed, the old scar can be removed. It is likely to happen again, but it may not.  Follow your surgeon's post-op instructions for scar treatment.

The scar could be removed but the healing process will be the same.  Individuals heal a certain way and you may not be able to change that.  I believe silicone sheeting is a good way to go and possibly limiting extreme arm movements which will tend to stretch that lower breast skin which could lead to more widening of the scar.

It is possible to improve scars with a revision. When it is known that a patient has a tendency to develop hypertrophic scarring, sometimes additional scar therapy helps.
