What are the benefits for having an Aerolase Neo laser and chemical peel for hyperpigmentation?

My new practitioner recommended the neo laser combined with chemical peels, for my first treatment I just got the neo laser because they wanted to see how my skin would react before getting the combo treatment, my skins fine but no differences, so I'm just hoping the combo treatment works and was wondering what are the benefits of the combo treatment that makes it so effective? I've heard good things about the treatment in terms of results but would like to know hwta makes the treatments so good.
