Why would my plastic surgeon have to go bigger than my original size in reconstruction?

Why would my plastic surgeon have to go bigger than my original size in reconstruction? I was a 32d before mastectomy/tissue expander and wanted to be a 32c. He said he “had” to go bigger, making me a 32dd. Why? In what scenarios would this be required? Thank you. I’m feeling pretty low about my appearance.
