Prothrombin Factor II - Will plastic surgeons say "no" to liposuction?

Question

Hello! I am 5'4" 135lbs with Lipedema and would like to get liposuction on my legs to remove excessive fat. I am generally healthy outside of that. If I have Prothrombin Factor II would I be able to get WAL Liposuction done under general anesthesia safely with blood thinners? I'd consult a hematologist, but wondering if it's an automatic "no" from plastic surgeons?

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

I assess all of my patients for blood clot risk via the national Caprini Risk Scale for development of DVT. If a patient comes back with a score of 7 or above, they need to have Lovenox injections for 1 week post-surgery to decrease risk of DVT/PE. In a case such as yours, when you have a condition that makes you higher risk for development of blood clots, you can always opt for Lovenox for 1 week following surgery, regardless of your caprini scale.

If you get a medical clearance from your hematologist and your hematologist give specific orders on what medication to use, you should be able to have liposuction.
