What you’re seeing is something I encounter fairly often. After filler dissolves, sometimes a faint line or indentation can remain. This can happen for a few reasons: Scar tissue or fibrous changes: Even though the filler is gone, the body sometimes lays down a bit of scar tissue in the area where the product once sat. Pre-existing line or fold: In many cases, the filler may have been placed to improve a natural line, and once it resolves, the underlying crease reappears. Skin texture changes: The lip and surrounding skin are delicate, so repeated filler or even natural aging can leave a subtle impression. To improve it, there are a few approaches that are sometimes used: Very fine, superficial filler to smooth out the line if the tissue allows. Microneedling or laser resurfacing, which can help remodel the scar tissue and improve texture. Occasionally, steroid injections or subcision are considered if it’s true scar tissue. It’s not uncommon to feel frustrated when a line persists despite filler dissolving, but the good news is that there are ways to soften it and make it less noticeable over time.
