Is general anesthesia always required? Can local / sedation be used if place above the muscle?
Answer: Hello no I never use general anesthesia for surgery’s in the butt, with peridural and sedation it’s more than enough, the procedure takes me 1 hour, it’s really quick

Answer: Removing gluteal implants You’ll need to Ask each individual surgeon how they feel about doing the procedure. Simply making an incision to the old scar and pulling out the implants and closing the incision may be a simplistic few of explantation for gluteal implants. Who do human plants when placed separate the skin in fat layer from the underlying gluteal muscle. Normally there’s a lot of connective tissue there holding the skin in place. by creating the plane and cutting these connective tissue fibers this allows the entire skin and fat layer to not be secured to the underlying muscle leaving it vulnerable to shift due to gravity. This can cause the skin and fat layer of the buttocks to slide down in a standing position creating an unnatural body contour. Properly removing implants and fixating the skin and the fat layer in the right position is a complex procedure and should probably be done under general anesthesia. There’s a bit more to this procedure than you think and different surgeons will have very different approaches to how it needs to be done. Most plastic surgeons in the United States don’t offer gluteal implants and I’m guessing most probably not want to remove implants either. Follow up with the surgeon who placed your implants or find one of the few doctors who actively places gluteal implants on a regular basis. The right doctors to remove gluteal implants are the same ones who install them. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
