Can I get fat removed from my hips after a BBL?

Question

I got a bbl and unfortunately the doctor added way too much fat on the sides and I am worried it will not reduce enough. I feel insecure at the moment, and I look like an ant. I just want to know that it is possible to remove some fat if needed from the sides/hips after it was inserted during a BBL procedure? Thank you.

Interesting question! Yes it can be lipoed out no problem! Essentially a BBL revision with lipo.
Sometimes when fat grafting, surgeons may over inject because we know some of the fat will not survive. So please keep in mind that a BBL may look weird or even too big the first few days after surgery. The swelling then subsides within a few weeks and the butt shrinks as grafted fat cells start “hibernating”. Eventually the fat cells that survive start to thrive and the butt and hips fluff out. This happens around the 4th - 6th month post op and is when we can actually see a “final” result. If your are already healed and feel they are still too big, a revision would not be a problem.

Removing fat from a previous BBL fat transfer is definitely an option. We perform this procedure in the office under local anesthesia with the patient comfortable on oral medications if desired. Fat can be removed from anywhere you deem it to be too excessive from a previous fat transfer. I understand your concern. Generally speaking, it is possible to remove fat from certain areas. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Previously, grafted fat, can often be removed with the use of Liposuction. This is true if fat was grafted into the subcutaneous fat layer. If fat was grafted into any tissue layer, other than subcutaneous fat, than it can not be removed with Liposuction.
I suggest you follow up with your provider to discuss your concerns and possible revision surgery.
