Female age 53 . 175 lbs. chin undefined from neck due to recent weight gain. Trying to diet and exercise to reduce face fullness. Is there a high risk for developing blood clots from a chin liposuction vs. facetite? history of Pulmonary Embolism last yr. off blood thinners now
Answer: Facetite vs Liposuction I would recommend doing that procedure under local- that significantly reduces many risks. General Anesthesia is not needed thus avoiding even the blood clot risk associated with anesthesia. We use a device called InMode FaceTite to contour both the neck and face. We pair that with Morpheus treatment to tighten the skin and everything is done with just local anesthetic and a light sedative pill. All the best!!

Answer: If you are using general anesthesia then risk is higher Great and thoughtful questions. The risk is higher if you are using general anesthesia. Having said that you can take precautions and do so safely. A board certified plastic surgeon can look at your history, assess the reason behind the pulmonary embolism. If there were inciting factors that are no longer present. Additionally, a preoperative consultation with a hematologist can be helpful. Your surgeon should be able to guide you through this process. I would take a step back and assess your aesthetic goals. I do not think facetite will allow you to achieve your aesthetic goals as it offers a modest improvement at best. There are many surgical options that can be offered based on your anatomy and goals. Happy to layer the discussion with you further. Best of luck with your search.

Answer: Facial Sculpting Candidate -- Fillers, Threads, Fat Transfer, Implants, See an expert It's difficult to say without the benefit of a formal evaluation. This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Blood Clots Good Morning! The risk with liposuction or FaceTite should be low in an otherwise healthy patient. The bleeding with each procedure is minimal. As long as your primary care physician clears you from a bleeding perspective, you should do well. Hope this helps!

Answer: Fortunately, can be done under local anesthesia The good news about chin liposuction and facetite (which can be done together) is that it can be done under local anesthesia, so if done this way the risk of blood clots would be very low compared to a procedure that requires general anesthesia. That being said, make sure to discuss with your plastic surgeon, as the reason you had a PE matters and they may want you to obtain clearance from your hematologist.
